Illegal use of leisure real estate in Austria.

Buying Austrian real estate for leisure purposes at first sight seems very attractive.

However in practice there appear some major problems.

Many houses or appartments are being offered as socalled Ferienhäuser or Ferienwohnungen, or as Investments in leisure appartments , although in fact the buyer is not allowed to use his real estate for leisure purposes. The penalties could be very high and even forced public auction could be the consequence.
